This niche has great variety, everything from small businesses with just a few employees, to much larger companies with offices across the country, and around the globe. They encounter all the challenges other businesses face, with one big difference: the family dynamic.

The family owned business combines all the everyday challenges of other businesses with the conflict that occurs in any family—between parents, between parents and their children, among siblings, and even with…(gulp!)…in-laws.

Non-family owned businesses experience the family rivalries, bickering, one-upmanship, and general mayhem only at family get-togethers. In a family owned business, you can experience this every day.

Managing interpersonal relationships is difficult in any business, but in a family owned business, it can be more intense, and require more discipline and skill.
